Amateur Fishing
Spear-fishing, angling, fishing with vertical lines (long lines with up to one hundred hooks and up to three fish traps) or trolling are the permitted fishing methods. Fishing with nets and other commercial methods are not permitted. There are quite a few species of fish which can be caught: sea-breams, groupers, amber jacks, sea-perch etc.

The closest trails to our village are trail 3 The national forest park of Athalassa which is located on the outskirts of the Capital Nicosia and trail 5 Machairas Forest - Lefkara - Kato Drys - Vavatsinias which is very near Kalavasos. Trail 8 Kyparissia - Germasogeia Dam is about 20 minutes drive from Kalavasos. All the others are at most an hours drive from Kalavassos.

| Fishing and Diving |
| There are quite a few places to fish in Cyprus, both the sea and man made dams offer quite a few choices. Amateur fishing and Fishing in Dams is outlined below.
Diving is also very popular in Cyprus, with a number of diving schools having excellent reputations. The most famous wreck in Cyprus waters is the 'Zenobia' which sank in 1980 The 172m (570) wreck is a must for all divers visiting the island. The Akamas peninsula is now earmarked as a marine park and the Akrotiri Fish Reserve near Limassol is very popular. (Akrotiri is about 30 minutes from Kalavasos).
